Actress Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, known for her role in a TV series that ridicules Ukrainians, has died in Russia at the age of 53. The actress’s daughter announced this on Instagram, reports [Kommersant]

“We got a call at night saying you were gone. Mum, you were the best thing I ever had…”
– she wrote.
Anastasia Zavorotnyuk is best known for her role as a Ukrainian woman from Maruipol in the TV series My Beautiful Nanny, portrayed as a clumsy, not very intelligent woman with a characteristic “gag” in her pronunciation and rather frivolous behaviour. The series has become a textbook example of the portrayal of Ukrainians in Russian culture.
Anastasia Zavorotnyuk illegally travelled to the Russian-occupied Crimea. She is listed in the database of the Myrotvorets website. There, the actress’s dossier has already been marked “liquidated”.

In recent years, the actress has been fighting a fourth-stage malignant brain tumour. The public became aware of the disease in 2019.
In addition to the 28-year-old Anna who wrote this post, the actress is survived by two other children: Michael (23) and Mila (5).
