Ukrainians’ demand for new cars fell by 30%: TOP 5 models of September

In September, Ukrainians bought 5.7 thousand new passenger cars, which is 30% less than in August. This was reported by the Ukravtoprom association, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The expected consequence of the abnormally high August demand, which occurred amid rumours of an increase in taxes on the first registration of passenger cars,” analysts say.

At the same time, the demand for new cars remained almost unchanged compared to September 2023 (0.1%).

It is noted that Toyota continues to hold the market leadership. During the month, Ukrainians registered 840 new cars of this Japanese brand. In annual terms, September demand for new Toyotas decreased by 13%.

Renault came in second with 541 vehicles, up 21% year-on-year, followed by Skoda with 443 (-5%). BMW rounded out the top five with 433 units (-12%) and Volkswagen with 336 (-48%).

The title of September’s bestseller went to Renault Duster with 504 registrations.

In total, from January to September 2024, Ukrainians purchased 53 thousand new passenger cars, which is 21% more than in the same period last year.
