Officials will be fined for failure to appear before the Rada

The Verkhovna Rada has finally supported a bill that provides for administrative punishment for people who ignore calls from the Rada, its committees or temporary special commissions. This was reported by MPs Yaroslav Zheleznyak and Oleksiy Honcharenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a draft law that establishes administrative liability for failure to appear at the summons of the parliament, committees and temporary special commissions. THE VOTE WAS 229 IN FAVOR. This is a very important bill. Previously, many officials simply ignored summonses to the Rada, even when there were very good reasons,” Honcharenko wrote.

Ignoring a summons is punishable by a fine of 2,500 to 3,000 tax-free minimum incomes.

If a person commits such an offense again within a year, the amount of the fine will increase – from 3,500 to 4,000 tax-free minimum incomes.

“It adopts my amendments (I thank the committee for its constructive position), which establish administrative liability for failure to appear at the summons of the parliament for all persons (and especially government officials) without good reason,” Zheleznyak wrote.
