Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko became the commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He had been acting commander for almost a year after the dismissal of Mykola Oleshchuk.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the president, he made the decision to appoint Kryvonozhko as commander today.
“The most important thing is that Ukrainian combat aviation and air defense forces continue to develop comprehensively and in effective cooperation: The Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the teams of our partners and professional and caring experts who wish Ukraine strength and victory,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
Since 2015, Kryvonozhko has been the head of the Center Air Command. In this position, after the full-scale invasion of Russia, he received the Order of the Golden Star and the title of Hero of Ukraine from Zelenskyy.
Since August 30, 2024, Kryvonozhko has been acting commander of the Air Force. He was temporarily appointed by the head of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, after Zelensky dismissed Mykola Oleshchuk from the post of Air Force Commander.
