Productive and constructive: Vitkoff shared details of his talks with Dmitriev on Ukraine

Trump’s special representative Steve Witkoff said that today’s meeting with Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev was productive and constructive. He believes that Russia is genuinely working to ensure peace in Ukraine.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing his post on social media.
“Today in Florida, Russian Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev held productive and constructive meetings as part of US efforts to mediate a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian conflict,” he wrote.
According to Vitkoff, the US delegation included himself, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House senior adviser Josh Greenbaum.
“We are encouraged by this meeting, which shows that Russia is working to ensure peace in Ukraine, and we are grateful (to Donald Trump – ed.) for his decisive role in the search for a lasting and long-term peace,” he concluded.
Peace talks
On January 23 and 24, trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia on ending the war were held for the first time in Abu Dhabi. The United States assessed them positively, while Kyiv called the meeting meaningful.
Now, a second round of talks between the parties is expected tomorrow, February 1. At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said recently that Vitkoff and Kushner will allegedly not participate in this meeting. That is, based on his words, direct talks are expected exclusively between Kyiv and Moscow.
On the eve of the first meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the key issue in the negotiations would be territory, primarily Donbas.
However, this issue, apparently, has not been resolved. In a recent interview, Zelensky said that without a direct meeting with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, it would be impossible to resolve the issue of territories.
