This year, the US will supply Ukraine with $15 billion worth of its own weapons, paid for by Europe.

According to "Komersant Ukrainian", this was announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in an interview with PBS.

“The deliveries amount to about €1 billion per month, so this year it will be about $15 billion,” the secretary general said.

According to him, lethal and non-lethal weapons, including interceptors to destroy Russian missiles, are critically important aid. But they are not enough.

“This is being paid for by European and Canadian allies. The truth is that Russia has many such missiles, and Europeans are looking for what else they can transfer from their own stocks,” the Alliance Secretary General added.

When asked whether the collective West can give Ukraine enough, he replied: “We can help Ukraine defend itself.”

Rutte also added that Ukraine is developing its own capabilities
to produce missile interceptors.

“Air defense is the most difficult part, but the so-called PURL program… is critically important for Ukraine,” said the NATO Secretary General.

The PURL program

As is well known, PURL is an international initiative of the US and NATO, created in mid-2025 to supply American weapons to Ukraine, which are financed not by Washington itself, but by allies and partners. These are European countries and Canada.

According to recent statements, most NATO member countries—24 states—are participating in the PURL program. Australia and New Zealand recently joined the initiative.
