The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has modernized and expanded the Affordable Medicines program. It has included 30 new drugs. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, the “Affordable Medicines” program includes new medicines, including drugs for rheumatological, neurological, eye and endocrinological diseases.

“The “Affordable Medicines” program is undergoing important changes as part of the “Winter Support” initiative for Ukrainians. We are including 30 new active substances in the list, including medicines for the treatment of rheumatological, neurological, eye and endocrinological diseases,” Shmyhal said.

One of the key changes is the extension of the program to children. From now on, the list of medicines will include medicines in the form of drops and ointments, which will significantly expand the possibilities of treating children’s diseases.

Another important component is to increase the number of pharmacies participating in the program.

“All pharmacies operating in hospitals will join the program. We will oblige pharmacies to offer customers the lowest price drugs first, taking into account the active ingredient,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Ukrainians will also be able to use the Winter eHealth funds to purchase medicines made in Ukraine.

Shmyhal reminded that over 5 million Ukrainians have benefited from the “Affordable Medicines” program in 5 years, 15 thousand pharmacies have been connected, and almost 600 medicines are available. The state budget for 2025 allocates UAH 6.6 billion for the program.

“We are also working to make medicines available in the most remote settlements. Mobile pharmacies are already operating in 13 regions. Throughout the country, including the frontline regions, it is possible to deliver medicines by Ukrposhta,” Shmyhal summarized.

What is known about the “Affordable Medicines” program

Ukraine has a government program called “Affordable Medicines” that allows Ukrainians to get the medicines they need for free or with a small surcharge.

To do this, you need to have an electronic prescription for medicines included in the program and go to a pharmacy that has an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine.

The list of medicines participating in the program can be found in the Register of Reimbursable Medicines on the website of the Ministry of Health http://www.moz.gov.ua.
