President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian troops had completely thwarted the Russian offensive in Sumy region. He said this following a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The offensive on Sumy has failed
According to the head of state, fighting continues in the border areas of Sumy region, but the enemy group has lost the ability to conduct offensive actions.
“There are results in the Sumy region: as of today, we can state that the Russian offensive on Sumy has been completely disrupted,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The Ukrainian military inflicted significant losses on the enemy, which effectively stopped its attempts to develop the offensive.
Fighting in other areas
The President also informed that the Defense Forces continue to restrain enemy activity in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia. In particular, Russian troops are trying to conduct assault operations, but are not achieving their goals.
Changes in enemy plans
Earlier it was reported that in the Sumy sector, the occupiers reduced the intensity of attacks, acting mainly in small infantry groups. At the same time, the Russian command has set a new operational goal: during the fall, they will try to capture Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Dobropillia in Donetsk region.
