Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to stay in power until 2050, the British tabloid Daily Star writes, citing investigative journalist Ilya Davlyatchin, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, 73-year-old Putin, who has already been at the helm of the Kremlin longer than any ruler since Joseph Stalin, would like to retain power until he is 97, and then possibly hand it over to his son Ivan. He is 10 years old now and will be 35 in 2050.

The current constitution, rewritten in 2020 to “zero out” Putin’s terms, allows him to remain president until 2036, i.e. until he is 83.

In terms of the length of his rule, Putin has already surpassed Pinochet (17 years), Kim Jong Il (17 years), Benito Mussolini, Indonesian dictator Suharto (20 years), and Nicolae Ceauşescu, who led Romania for 24 years. By the end of his fifth term, Putin may surpass Mao Zedong, and in the case of his sixth term, he may catch up with Francisco Franco (Spain) and Antonio de Salazar (Portugal), each of whom ruled for 36 years.

If Putin stays in power until 2050, he will overtake Muammar Gaddafi (42 years), Kim Il Sung (46 years), and Fidel Castro (49 years) and become the longest-serving ruler of Russia since Ivan the Terrible, who ruled for 50 years (including childhood).

Putin’s entourage is actively engaged in prolonging the life of the Russian president, and in September, the Russian Ministry of Health was instructed to urgently collect all available scientific developments on anti-aging, The Times wrote last year, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to the newspaper, the “cure for old age” project is led by 77-year-old Mikhail Kovalchuk, one of Putin’s close friends who heads the Kurchatov Nuclear Research Institute. It also involves Putin’s eldest daughter, endocrinologist Maria Vorontsova.
