Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin is considering several options for concessions to US President Donald Trump to try to avert the threat of secondary sanctions. Bloomberg writes about this, citing its own sources, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to the publication, the Russian authorities are considering potential concessions to US President Donald Trump on a peaceful settlement as an attempt to avert the threat of secondary US sanctions.
“A pause in air strikes with drones and missiles as a gesture of de-escalation could be one of the potential proposals, provided that Ukraine also agrees,” one of the interlocutors said.
At the same time, journalists’ sources note that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not agree to a general ceasefire in Ukraine.
The sources say that the visit of US envoy Steve Witkoff to Russia this week “gives the last chance” to reach an agreement with Trump.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin considers meetings with US Ambassador Steve Vitkoff “very important” but does not comment on proposals in advance.
Sergei Markov, a Moscow-based political consultant close to the Kremlin, said that “Trump needs some kind of ‘gift’, a concession from Russia,” and an air ceasefire could be such a gift.
