The Verkhovna Rada will consider a new draft law on amendments to the state budget for 2025, No. 13573, which does not contain a provision to increase the subsistence minimum for calculating prosecutors’ salaries. The document was registered by Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, Budget Committee Chair Roksolana Pidlasa, First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Kornienko and others. This was reported by the Judicial and Legal Newspaper, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Earlier, the bill No. 13439-3 provided for an increase in the subsistence level for prosecutors from UAH 1600 to UAH 2102 from August 1, which could increase the salaries of district prosecutors from about UAH 40 thousand to more than UAH 52 thousand. This provision was supported in the first reading, but it has been excluded from the new document.
The decision to change the draft budget was explained by political consultations and the need to quickly increase funding for the defense sector. The new draft law is scheduled to be adopted on July 31.
Earlier, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reminded of a significant disparity in remuneration in law enforcement agencies: according to him, prosecutors receive significantly less than their colleagues from the State Bureau of Investigation or the NABU.
“Why do prosecutors have their salaries calculated at UAH 1600, while others are paid UAH 2102 or 3028?” Kravchenko asked a rhetorical question during the PIC meeting.
