The Verkhovna Rada has adopted in the first reading the draft law No. 12087-d, which provides for the implementation of European law for the full integration of the Ukrainian electricity market into the single European space.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the head of the Ministry of Energy, Svitlana Hrynchuk, the document is a key stage in the European integration process in the energy sector. Its implementation will create a transparent, competitive and reliable electricity market harmonized with EU standards. The bill is also aimed at strengthening energy security, improving the quality of services for consumers and fulfilling Ukraine’s international obligations.
The Ministry clarified that the document was developed on the basis of nine acts of EU energy legislation. It is intended to form a legal framework for the full integration of the Ukrainian electricity market into the EU market on the basis of reciprocity, i.e. with equal rights and opportunities for Ukrainian and European participants.
The draft law was one of the key topics during the screening of Ukrainian legislation for compliance with EU energy law. Adoption of the document as a whole will allow the synchronization of electricity markets to begin in early 2027.
