People’s Deputy Dmytro Razumkov, together with the inter-factional association “Smart Politics”, announced the beginning of the process of initiating the resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers headed by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The politician announced this on his Telegram channel, saying that the government “failed in all areas,” "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Razumkov named the main complaints as follows:
- critical budget deficit;
- lack of funds for the needs of the army;
- the threat of non-payment to the military for the second year in a row;
- the loss of economic visa-free travel, which, according to his estimates, cost Ukraine at least 3.5 billion euros a year;
- a 6.1% drop in industrial production;
- an increase in tariffs and taxes, which, in his opinion, led to the mass closure of individual entrepreneurs and job losses.
“This is a step that, without exaggeration, will be life-saving for our country,” the MP wrote.
Razumkov also called on Prime Minister Shmyhal to resign voluntarily to save time needed to process the relevant documents in parliament. “This would be at least some kind of responsible decision after everything his team has brought the country to,” he said.
Political context
Dmytro Razumkov is a former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (2019-2021) and one of the leaders of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s 2019 election campaign. After resigning from the post of Speaker of the Parliament, he created the parliamentary association “Smart Politics”, which consistently criticizes the activities of the current government.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Razumkov has repeatedly criticized the actions of the Cabinet of Ministers, particularly in the area of mobilization.
