Russia attacks power facilities in three regions: restrictions after shelling

29 October 11:49

On Wednesday night, Russian aggressors attacked energy facilities in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrenergo.

As of the morning of October 29, Ukraine’s power system is under high load due to the consequences of Russian shelling of power facilities.

Electricity consumption is showing an upward trend, but due to damage to equipment in some regions, there is still a need for economical energy consumption.

Consequences of the shelling

As a result of attacks on energy facilities, consumers in Dnipropetrovska, Zaporizka and Odeska oblasts have no electricity supply. Emergency repair works are ongoing and power engineers are doing everything possible to restore the equipment.

In several regions, given the difficult situation in the power grid, hourly outage schedules of 0.5 to 1.5 queues have been introduced from 08:00 to 22:00 today.

For industrial consumers in these regions, power limitation schedules are in effect from 07:00 to 22:00.

Electricity consumption

This morning (06:30), electricity consumption was 2.4% higher than at the same time the previous day. The increase is due to cloudy weather, which reduces the efficiency of household solar power plants, as well as a drop in air temperature in some regions.

Yesterday’s daily maximum electricity consumption was recorded in the evening and corresponded to the previous day.

Recommendations for the public

Given the high loads, citizens are advised to use electricity sparingly and not to turn on several powerful appliances at the same time until 22:00.

The situation in the power system remains dynamic, so follow the updates on the websites and official pages of the regional power distribution companies.
