Starting January 1, 2025, employers are required to organize and pay for psychiatric examinations for their employees. This is stated in the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 1759, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the document, employers must organize and pay for psychiatric examinations for employees engaged in activities that require special requirements for mental health. The Ministry says that the new rules introduced by Order No. 1759 are aimed at ensuring workplace safety and compliance of Ukrainian standards with international norms.
The main changes include the introduction of a new form of psychiatric examination certificate and improvements to diagnostic protocols and procedures for more accurate mental health assessment.
Employers are now obliged to organize and pay for preliminary, periodic and extraordinary psychiatric examinations for employees of certain categories, such as transport, defense, energy companies, as well as employees of educational and medical institutions interacting with vulnerable groups.
The examination will be carried out only by certain psychiatrists who are registered in the electronic healthcare system and have undergone appropriate training.
“These changes are being introduced to reduce the risks of professional activity in special conditions, ensure the safety of workers and adapt Ukrainian standards to international norms,” the Ministry of Health assures.
