Russia attacks Ukraine with 5 missiles and 74 UAVs on 29 August

On the night of 29 August, the Russian army attacked Ukrainians with five missiles and 74 UAVs. Ukraine’s air defences shot down two guided missiles and 60 attack UAVs. This was reported by the commander of the Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The Russian army attacked Ukrainians with three X-59/69 guided missiles from the airspace of Kursk and Belgorod regions, and from the same direction with two missiles, the type of which is currently being established.

the enemy launched 74 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from the areas of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk and Yeysk, Oleshchuk said.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.

“As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, two X-59/69 guided missiles and 60 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs were shot down. Another 14 attack UAVs were lost locally (crashed) on the territory of Ukraine. Air defences were operating within Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Poltava, Dnipro, Kherson, Sumy and Donetsk regions,” he said.

Thehead of the KMVA, Serhiy Popko, said that on the night of 29 August, the air defence forces shot down more than a dozen Shahed attack drones that Russia had launched to attack Kyiv.

The air alert in the capital lasted more than 5 hours. Russian drones were flying at Kyiv from the territory of the occupied Kherson and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation before midnight, around 23:00.

According to the head of the KIAA, the enemy “shahids” entered the capital “in waves and from different directions”.

According to the KIAA, as a result of the attack by enemy kamikaze drones, debris fell in three districts of the capital:

  • in the Holosiivskyi district, debris fell on the territory of residential buildings. Windows and doors in an apartment building were damaged.
  • in Dniprovskyi district, debris fell on the territory of residential buildings, but “without negative consequences”.
  • in Desnianskyi district, debris fell on the territory of a private household, a fire broke out in a non-residential building, which has already been extinguished.

Popko noted that there was no information on casualties in Kyiv.

Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy regional military administration , said that a fire broke out at a private enterprise in Cherkasy as a result of a Russian air attack on the night of 29 August and falling debris.

According to him, firefighting measures are currently underway, and operational and emergency services are working at the scene.

The head of the JMA urged local residents to stay in safe places until the air raid alert is cancelled.
