Russia attacked an energy facility in Odessa: critical damage
17 February 09:14
On February 17, Russian occupation forces struck a DTEK energy facility in Odesa, causing extensive damage. This was reported by the energy company’s press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to DTEK, the damage is extremely serious, and it will take a long time to restore the infrastructure.
Destruction of critical infrastructure: energy workers are on site
The company reported that immediately after the attack, specialists began work to eliminate the consequences.
“The damage is extremely serious, and repairs will take a long time to restore the equipment to working order,” DTEK said.
Energy workers are currently clearing debris and assessing the extent of the damage. The main task is to restore power as quickly as possible, primarily to critical infrastructure facilities.
The priority is to supply electricity to hospitals and strategic facilities.
DTEK emphasized that energy workers are making every effort to stabilize the situation.
“Our primary task is to restore power to critical infrastructure facilities and ensure the stability of the power system,” the company said.
Restoration work is being carried out in conditions of increased danger and a complex security situation.
Attacks on Odessa’s energy sector continue
This is not the first attack on DTEK’s energy facilities in Odesa. In particular, on February 13, Russian troops also attacked the company’s energy infrastructure, causing damage and necessitating emergency repairs.
Russian shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has continued since the start of the full-scale invasion and is aimed at destabilizing the power system and creating problems with electricity supply.
