Russia attacks thermal power plant: two power engineers wounded

Today, on October 8, the Russian army struck again at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. One of DTEK’s thermal power plants came under fire, and two power engineers were injured in the attack. This was reported by the company’ s press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The victims were promptly provided with all the necessary medical care. Emergency crews are working at the site to eliminate the consequences of the shelling and restore the damaged equipment.

“The TPP equipment was seriously damaged. We are working to eliminate the consequences,” DTEK said.

The company did not specify the location of the attacked TPP, but according to Chernihivoblenergo, the attack was on a power facility in Nizhyn district of Chernihiv region. As a result, more than 4,500 consumers were left without electricity.

Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed the attack, noting that the Russians had hit the critical infrastructure of the city of Nizhyn.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK’s TPPs have been hit by more than 200 attacks, which have resulted in constant damage to power equipment and power engineers risking their lives to restore the country’s power grid.
