To date, there is not a single Ukrhydroenergo plant that has not been damaged by missile or drone attacks by the Russian Armed Forces. This was was stated by cEO of Ukrhydroenergo Ihor Syrota during a live broadcast on the United News telethon, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Since the start of the full-scale invasion, about 130 strikes have been made against Ukrhydroenergo’s stations,” Syrota said.
He added that Ukraine has already lost Kakhovka HPP forever as a result of the Russian Federation’s aggression. The Dnipro HPP cannot operate due to the damage sustained. The company’s other HPPs and PSPPs are currently in the process of being restored.
In addition, as of 28 August, the debris at Kyivska HPP is still being cleared.
Ihor Syrota clarified that Ukrhydroenergo has lost more than 40% of its generation. Nevertheless, hydro generation continues to provide the power system with balancing capacities as far as possible.
The company’s key objective is to restore the lost capacity as much as possible by the start of the autumn-winter period. However, the restoration requires both financial and human resources and time, as the equipment at the company’s plants is non-linear and takes a long time to manufacture.
