Russia moves equipment to Belarus for joint exercises: SBGS responds
8 August 14:58
The first columns of Russian military and equipment are already arriving in Belarus. These movements are related to preparations for the next joint military exercises. This was stated by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“In general, as before, the border with Belarus is quite threatening for us. We are paying considerable attention to this area, including monitoring the situation with regard to the announced joint exercises between Belarus and Russia, the active phase of which is to take place in September,” Demchenko said.
At the same time, the border guards assure that there is no immediate threat from the north.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. Indeed, the equipment is arriving, and the exercises have been announced. But at the moment it is more of an information campaign on the part of the enemy than a real threat,” said Demchenko.
He added that there is currently no significant contingent of Russian troops on the territory of Belarus.
Demchenko also said that the Russian occupation forces are increasing the intensity of shelling of the border areas of Sumy region, increasingly using combat aircraft.
“If we talk about the direction of Sumy region, there is a rather active use of aviation, from which the enemy drops CABs, strikes with unguided aircraft missiles. At the same time, in addition to targeting the positions of Ukrainian defenders, the enemy is also conducting precision strikes on populated areas,” noted Demchenko.
According to him, Yunakivska and Khotynska communities remain the most vulnerable, where shelling takes place almost every day.
