Russia to hold meeting as UN Security Council President on October 24

During its presidency of the UN Security Council, Russia intends to hold a meeting on October 24 to consider compliance with the UN Charter on the day it entered into force.

This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference summarizing his participation in the high-level week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Russian media.

“Our presidency falls on the anniversary date of October 24, the day the United Nations was founded. We are planning to hold a special meeting on that day. Not to reiterate our support for the principles laid down by the founding fathers in the organization’s Charter, but to see how these principles should be implemented today,” Lavrov explained.

on September 23, the UN General Assembly opened a high-level session. As part of this event, heads of state and government assess the current international situation and formulate their views on key global conflicts.
