Russia strikes at the training center of the Land Forces with ballistic missiles: there are casualties
16 October 17:08
Today, Russian troops fired two ballistic missiles at a training unit of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Operational Command “South”, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The place of the attack is in the rear part of the country, which was considered relatively safe.
It is preliminarily known that there are dead and wounded.
The wounded are being provided with emergency medical care, and the military promises to contact the families of the victims as soon as possible.
Where exactly the attack took place
The location of the attack is not officially disclosed for security reasons.
However, the context of the reports suggests that it is a training center of the Land Forces located in the interior of the country, far from the front line.
This may be one of the facilities where mobilized soldiers are trained, as well as retrained before being sent to combat positions.
What was used in the attack
According to preliminary analysis, the attack was carried out with ballistic missiles.
It is likely to be Iskander-M or Kinzhal missiles, which Russia often uses to strike targets deep inside Ukraine.
Such missiles fly on a steep trajectory, which complicates the work of air defense systems, with response times of only a few minutes.
What are the consequences
- The presence of dead and wounded among the Ukrainian military has been confirmed.
- Medics are working at the scene, and the evacuation of the wounded is underway.
- The military command urges not to distribute photos and videos from the scene until official reports are available.
We remind you that in recent weeks, Russia has intensified shelling of Ukraine’s rear regions, including military training grounds, warehouses and training centers.
In late September, ballistic missiles were fired at Cherkasy, Poltava, and Khmelnytsky regions.
In July, a similar strike on one of the training grounds resulted in the deaths of several dozen Ukrainian soldiers.
Ukrainian analysts believe that Russia is trying to disrupt the process of rotation and training of new units in order to slow down the replenishment of the front.
An investigation into the circumstances of the strike has been launched.
The command promises to release updated information on the number of casualties and the nature of the damage after the identification is completed.
