Russia strikes again at energy sector: what is known about attacks on 4 regions

24 November 2025 11:20

In a night and morning attack on November 24, Russians struck the energy infrastructure of four regions at once. Some facilities were damaged, leaving tens of thousands of Ukrainians without electricity. At the same time, restriction schedules for households and businesses are in effect across the country. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Let’s find out what happened, which regions were affected the most, and how the power system will work today.

Which regions were attacked

According to the Ministry of Energy, the attacks were aimed at energy facilities:

  • Dnipropetrovska oblast
  • Kharkiv region
  • Donetsk region
  • Chernihiv region.

The most difficult situation is in Dnipropetrovs’k region

More than 60,000 consumers are without electricity.

Power lines and equipment have been severely damaged, and emergency crews are working around the clock.

Kharkiv region

About 10,000 more customers have lost power due to the attack. The region has to restore power grids after each shelling, which makes it difficult to maintain a stable power supply.

In Donetsk and Chernihiv oblasts, new damage to the grid and local outages are also being recorded.

Why there are blackout schedules across the country

Today, from 00:00 to 23:59, all regions of Ukraine have introduced

  • hourly outage schedules for households;
  • power limitation schedules for business and industry.

The introduction of restrictions is a necessary step to balance the power system after shocks and prevent emergency outages.

Where to find the latest schedules

The outage schedule is published

  • on the official websites of regional power distribution companies,
  • in the Telegram channels of regional operators,
  • in mobile applications, if supported by the power company.

Why it is important to save electricity

The Ministry of Energy asks Ukrainians to consume electricity rationally, especially

  • in the morning from 07:00 to 11:00,
  • in the evening from 17:00 to 23:00.

It is during these hours that the load on the system is maximum, and any savings help to avoid emergency shutdowns.

Weather conditions also have an impact

Due to strong winds and precipitation, 45 settlements in the Lviv region remain without power. All of them should be connected to the grid by the end of the day.

What it means for consumers

  • The outage schedules will continue to be in effect while the power company repairs the damaged facilities.
  • The time of outages may change depending on the situation in the grid.
  • Saving electricity will help reduce the load and avoid additional restrictions.

Ukrainian power engineers work continuously, but the stability of the system depends not only on them, but also on each of us.
