The Russians managed to damage the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, but it continues to serve. There is no question of its destruction. This was stated by Yuriy Ihnat, acting head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The official reacted in this way to a post on social media by MP Mariana Bezuhla, in which she referred to the relevant statement of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

On Wednesday, 9 October, the Russian Ministry of Defence released a video of Iskander-M missiles striking a Patriot air defence system deployed in combat position near the village of Pashena Balka in the Dnipro region. The footage shows Russian missiles crashing into the ground in relative proximity to the Patriot elements.

The Russian Ministry of Defence claims that the strike allegedly “destroyed the AN/MPQ-65 multifunctional radar station, the AN/MSQ-104 combat control cabin and the launcher from the composition” of this SAM.

The Russians claimed “damage to another launcher and the death of some of the SAM personnel”.

“So what happened on 9 October? Nothing new, the enemy only damaged several pieces of equipment, not destroyed them. It’s war, and not only people but also equipment get injured in war. Moreover, the same Patriot unit continues to perform tasks in the region,” Ihnat wrote.

The soldier noted that on that day, the Patriot air defence system was engaged in an anti-aircraft battle against a group of Russian ballistic missiles. Some of them were intercepted. According to Ihnat, the Patriot system is one of the enemy’s top targets, as it is only thanks to this American air defence system that Ukraine keeps Russian aircraft at a certain distance.

“Technology in warfare is developing rapidly, their KABs have started to fly further, they have learned their lesson after losing a dozen aircraft during their previous daring attacks. And now it is much more difficult to hunt down Russian “driers”. The enemy is changing its tactics, using all available methods of reconnaissance – from satellites and reconnaissance UAVs to ground agents, the enemy does not spare Iskanders, having information about the potential presence of Patriot in a particular area,” Ignat said in a statement.

However, the video shows only two explosions, and the SAM elements were located at a considerable distance from each other.
