Drone thefts: 10 million bail for Haidai

Three defendants in the case of corruption in the procurement of drones and electronic warfare have been granted bail. Among them is the former head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Haidai. This is reported by Suspilne, citing statements by the lawyers of the defendants in the case and a spokeswoman for the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
It is known that Haidai was released on bail in the amount of UAH 10 million. His lawyer Roman Kruglyak noted that “the bail was paid by individuals,” and at 18:05 Gaidai left the pre-trial detention center.
A bail of two million hryvnias was also posted for National Guard Colonel Vasyl Myshansky. His defense attorneys said that the bail was paid by the guardsmen, the article says.
Another defendant in the case, Yevhenia Sydelnikova, director of the Akopters company, was also released on bail of 2 million hryvnias.
“Everyone is forbidden to leave the designated cities and contact other defendants in the case. They also have to hand over their passports and wear electronic bracelets,” Suspilne added.
The preventive measures against Haidai and Sydelnikova will last 60 days, and against Myshansky – until September 30.
Corruption scheme with FPV drones
The NABU and the SAPO exposed a scheme to embezzle funds during public procurement of FPV drones and electronic warfare equipment.
According to the investigation, one of the military units signed a contract for almost UAH 10 million with a company that overstated the cost of the delivered products. The overpayment amounted to about 80 thousand dollars. After the contract was fulfilled, the company’s representatives transferred part of the funds to the participants in the scheme as a kickback.
Among the suspects is the former head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Serhiy Haidai. The government approved his dismissal on August 2, immediately after the case was publicized.
The case also involves Oleksiy Kuznetsov, a member of the Servant of the People party from Luhansk region. He was temporarily suspended from the faction for the duration of the investigation. on August 4, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a pre-trial restraint of 60 days in custody with the possibility of bail of UAH 8 million.
