The market is picking up: Naftogaz is selling gas to businesses again
10 April 12:17
Naftogaz Trading Gas Supply Company LLC is resuming the sale of natural gas on the Ukrainian market to industrial consumers, which had been suspended since January 2022.
This was reported by ExPro, as cited by "Komersant Ukrainian".
It is noted that “Naftogaz Trading” is ready to supply industrial consumers with the necessary volumes of natural gas during the period of April–May 2026. The selling price as of April 9, 2026, is 32,000 UAH/thousand cubic meters (including VAT).
In addition, the company has also submitted a similar offer to the auctions of the “Ukrainian Energy Exchange,” where it is offering 1 million cubic meters of April gas (delivery from April 15 to 30) and 1 million cubic meters of May gas for sale. The starting price is 32,000 UAH/thousand cubic meters (including VAT) on a prepayment basis. Volumes may increase if demand is present.
As the Naftogaz Group’s press service informed the publication, the natural gas offer for industrial consumers was announced to ensure access to the resource amid current demand. This is particularly important for critical infrastructure enterprises that operate and purchase gas at market prices.
No sales for four years
The last time Naftogaz Trading sold natural gas on the exchange was before the full-scale invasion, in January 2022. In 2019–2021, Naftogaz Trading was the main gas seller on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange, selling over 2.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas during that period.
However, with the start of the full-scale invasion, the company ceased selling gas to industrial consumers on the exchange. Instead, in November 2023, Naftogaz Trading began purchasing domestically produced gas on the exchange for its own needs.
In certain months (November–December 2024), the company sold natural gas to industrial consumers outside the exchange. However, for most of the time since the full-scale invasion, Naftogaz Trading has not sold gas to industrial consumers, continuing to sell gas at preferential prices to heat and electricity producers, as well as budgetary and religious organizations, in accordance with the special obligations (PSO) assigned to the company.
