Sytnyk was dismissed from his position in the NAPC: what is known about it

On Monday, 3 June, Artem Sytnik was dismissed from the post of Deputy Chairman of the NAPC. About it reports "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to information on the website of the National Agency for the prevention of corruption.

“Today, 3 June 2024, the Deputy Chairman of the National Agency for the prevention of corruption Artem Sytnik left his position. The national Agency thanks Artem Sergeevich for his contribution to the development of the National Agency and the entire anti-corruption infrastructure of Ukraine”, – stated on the website of the Department.

At the same time, the NACC did not specify for what exact reason the official left his position.

Who is Artem Sytnyk

Sytnyk is a lawyer, was Deputy Chairman of the National Agency for the prevention of corruption since 12 May 2022. He is known for being the first director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (2015-2022).

He started his career as an assistant prosecutor of the Leninsky district of Kropivnitsky, then worked as an investigator and senior investigator.

In 2004, Sytnyk was transferred to the prosecutor’s office of Kirovohrad region as a senior investigator, and two years later he became head of the investigation department. Subsequently, Sytnyk became the head of the investigative department of the Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.

After leaving the Prosecutor’s Office in 2011, Mr Sytnyk worked as a managing partner in the law firm Yurydychnye Garanty and as a lawyer in the firm Compass.

At the NAPC, Artem Sytnyk was responsible for such areas of work as:

  • coordination of interaction with law enforcement and prosecution authorities, including ensuring consideration of reasonable conclusions on crimes, identification of assets of persons involved in military aggression against Ukraine;
  • financial control, conducting special audits, lifestyle monitoring, checking compliance with legal requirements, including in the area of corruption prevention;
  • preventing and resolving conflicts of interest;
  • monitoring and control over the implementation of legislative acts on ethical behaviour, prevention and settlement of conflicts of interest.
