As a result of a large-scale power outage in San Francisco (USA) on Saturday de-energized 130,000 subscribers – that’s about 30% of the city, the work of public transportation was disrupted.
This was reported by the Los Angeles Times, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
As noted, the blackout began in the morning, and in the afternoon there was a fire at a substation of the utility company PG&E. The fire has been extinguished; the cause of the blaze is not yet known.
“I can safely say that this is one of the factors that contributed to the power outage, but I don’t know if it’s the only cause,” said San Francisco Emergency Management Chief Mariano Elias.
According to a map published by the city department, the blackout severely impacted the west side of the city.
De-energization led to disruptions in the work of transportation: the subway did not work, Waymo unmanned cabs temporarily stopped working.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said city officials are working with PG&E to restore power.
Authorities urged residents to refrain from unnecessary travel.
