Watermelon season has started: how much does a juicy berry cost in Ukraine

The first local watermelons of the 2025 harvest have appeared on Ukrainian markets. Currently, farmers in the southern regions and Transcarpathia have started harvesting melons, but a massive harvest is expected later.

The watermelon season began at about the same time as last year. However, only a few farms are currently selling watermelons in bulk. Due to the limited supply, the first batches are sold at higher prices – in the range of 20-28 hryvnias per kilogram. This is 10% more expensive than in the first half of July 2024.
Experts note that prices may fall sharply in the near future as the geography of watermelon harvesting expands and supply increases. The mass entry of products to the market is expected closer to the middle of the month.
