Seasonal work in 2025: what vacancies are offered, where they pay better, and why the West manages to keep the salary bar high

With the onset of summer in Ukraine, the seasonal labor market traditionally intensifies. In May 2025, OLX Work recorded a significant increase in both offers and competition for temporary vacancies, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing a company press release.
It says that the demand for seasonal labor is growing: both employers and employees are looking for opportunities to adapt to the new realities in the labor market during the active phase of hostilities.
Who is most actively looking for seasonal workers
The leader in the number of vacancies is construction. The largest number of vacancies is concentrated here, and job seekers are offered the highest salaries:
- Construction workers – median salary of UAH 37,500;
- Installers – UAH 35,000;
- Handymen – UAH 21,000 (most ads).
Among the white-collar workers in the Trade category, salespeople (UAH 16,000) and drivers (UAH 29,000) are most often sought after.
Some stand out:
- vacancies in the category “Production/working specialties” with a median salary of UAH 20,500;
- offers for students and beginners – UAH 10,000;
- and cooks in HoReCa (hotel and restaurant business – ed.) – UAH 27,500.
Also, the demand for animators and tutors has intensified on the eve of summer.
Geography of offers: Kyiv region is in the top, the West is in the premium segment
Kyiv region is the undisputed leader in the number of seasonal vacancies. It accounts for 26% of the temporary labor market. A significant number of ads are also posted in Dnipropetrovska and Odeska oblasts.
However, the highest salaries are offered in the western regions:
- Zakarpattia region – UAH 25,500;
- Rivne region – UAH 24,500;
- Kyiv region – UAH 24,000;
- Odesa region – UAH 22,500.
This shows that even in the face of high competition, labor costs in the west of the country remain consistently high. This is likely due to labor migration and staff shortages.
Competition for vacancies: where there are the most responses
The market shows not only active supply but also high demand for seasonal employment. The most responses per vacancy are received in:
- Zaporizhzhia region – 63;
- Dnipropetrovska – 40;
- Kyiv region – 38;
- Odesa region – 31.
Trends: demand for blue-collar and beginners
In 2025, the seasonal labor market in Ukraine will remain a segment for unskilled workers, students, and laborers. Technical specialties, physical labor, and service industries form the main pool of vacancies.
Kyiv and Odesa regions are the only regions to record high activity in three key parameters at once: supply, wages, and demand. This makes them points of attraction for all market participants.
