Cambodia has announced its intention to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. This is not the first country to nominate Trump for this award.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Reuters.

Cambodia will nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister San Chanthol confirmed the plan to nominate Trump for the award.

Speaking to reporters in the capital Phnom Penh earlier, Chanthol thanked Trump for establishing peace and said he deserved to be nominated for the prize, the highest international honor given to the person or organization that is considered to have done the most to “develop friendship between peoples.”

According to Reuters, it was Trump’s call last week that broke the deadlock in efforts to end the fiercest fighting between Thailand and Cambodia in more than a decade, leading to talks in Malaysia on Monday.

After the ceasefire was announced, White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt said in a post on X that Trump had achieved it.

“Give him the Nobel Peace Prize!” she said.

At least 43 people are known to have been killed in the fierce clashes that lasted five days and displaced more than 300,000 people on both sides of the border.

“We recognize his great efforts for peace,” Chantol said.

He also added that his country is also grateful for the 19% tariff reduction.

It is worth noting that last month Pakistan said it would recommend Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to help resolve the conflict with India, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last month that he himself had nominated Trump for the prize.
