What awaits evaders after the end of the war – lawyer’s explanation

29 September 20:44

Servicemen who are currently in the NWC should not count on amnesty after the war ends.

Lawyer Vitaliy Baranovsky said this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".

“The soldiers who are currently in the NWC and are waiting for victory are unlikely to be amnestied. You have been at home for three years, hiding, while some of you have served for three years. What are the grounds for you to be released from criminal liability? This cannot happen,” he said.

He emphasized that servicemen should not hope that they will wait out the war at home and avoid punishment.

“We should not count on this, because the state system adopts laws as it can implement them. If it is not possible to imprison everyone, they will find other mechanisms – punitive battalions, special military units, disciplinary units,” the lawyer summarized.

We would like to remind you that lawyers remind you that evading mobilization in Ukraine is a criminal offense.

Under Article 336 of the Criminal Code, it is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 3 to 5 years. At the same time, courts often pass harsher sentences during martial law.
