What young people read: Collin Hoover and Volodymyr Stanchyshyn became the sales leaders in the eBooks program

During the first six months of the state program “eBook” 18-year-old Ukrainians bought more than 294 thousand books – on average more than 1 600 copies daily. This was reported by theUkrainian Institute of Books, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

The most popular among young people was Colleen Hoover ‘s book “Leave if you love”. Also in the top are works on psychology, love prose and thrillers.

What was bought most often:

  • Psychology and self-development – 26.7%
  • Contemporary romance novels – 26.6%
  • Mystery thrillers – 18.2%
  • Detectives – 14.2%
  • Philosophy and fantasy – ~4% each
  • Historical novels – 3%
  • Poetry – <2%
  • Dystopias – 1.16%

On average, each participant of the program bought three books.

The most popular Ukrainian authors:

  • Volodymyr Stanchyshyn – 2,944 copies sold
  • Illarion Pavlyuk – 1,739
  • Andriy Semyankiv – 1 312
  • Anastasia Levkova – 532
  • Vasyl Simonenko and Lina Kostenko – 495 each

What is eBook?

It is a government program for young people who are turning or have already turned 18 in 2025. It is part of a broader strategy to support the book industry – together with the “Natskeshbek” and “Winter eSupport” programs.

In total, Ukrainians bought books for almost UAH 250 mln, of which UAH 91.5 mln (37%) – within the framework of eBooks.
