The military can already order interceptor drones from the Ministry of Defense’s DOT-Chain Defense weapons marketplace.
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“From now on, units can independently select and order the means they need directly through the IT system at public expense and without unnecessary approvals,” he said.
Shmyhal noted that the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense has added a critical element to the DOT-Chain Defense weapons marketplace – interceptor drones, which are special drones designed to effectively combat enemy reconnaissance and strike UAVs.
The minister added that they will strengthen Ukrainian air defense at the tactical level.
According to him, drones from three Ukrainian manufacturers are already available in the marketplace, and three more will be contracted in the near future.
The DOT-Chain Defence marketplace is used by the Ministry of Defense to provide the military with weapons, the system unites brigades, manufacturers and the Defense Procurement Agency: units choose the weapons they need, and the DPA takes care of the organizational part from contracting to payment.
