Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal called the increase in Ukrainian weapons production a key defense priority.

“We have significantly scaled up production since the beginning of the full-scale war – 35 times. We have the potential to increase the figures. Currently, the share of Ukrainian weapons at the front is 40 percent. We have to reach 50 percent. This is the task set by the President. Drones, armored vehicles, ammunition – everything our soldiers need,” he wrote on Telegram on Saturday, July 19, after meeting with Herman Smetanin, who, as announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is to head Ukroboronprom, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

In particular, according to Shmyhal, it is necessary to “scale up technologies that have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield, such as interceptor drones.”

“This technology has made an incredible breakthrough, and the number of successful Shaheda attacks is growing rapidly every month. It is important to find and quickly scale anti-shaheddist solutions. This is the task set by the President,” he wrote after a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
