Shocking figures: how many combat aircraft were produced in Russia in 2024

The aviation industry in Russia’s military-industrial complex is functioning and currently produces combat aircraft such as the Su-57, Su-35, Su-34 and the Yak-130 training and combat aircraft. In 2024, Russian aviation will receive 22 to 28 new aircraft of various types. This was reported by the military and political observer of the Information Resistance group Oleksandr Kovalenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“Su-30 fighters are mostly undergoing repairs and upgrades, as is the MiG-29, but the MiG-35 can be considered a dead project, as its production has been halted due to the dominance of Su aircraft,”
– kovalenko said.
According to him, in 2022, the Russian Aerospace Forces received 29 new and upgraded aircraft. In 2023, the army received 26 new combat vehicles. In a full-scale war, the Russian Aerospace Forces received at least 30 combat and combat training aircraft annually. In the first six months of 2024, the troops received approximately 10 new aircraft.
“Given the capabilities of the Russian military-industrial complex, it is likely that in the second half of 2024, another 2-3 batches of Su-34 and Su-35 will be transferred to the troops, two aircraft in each batch. Thus, in 2024, Russia will receive 8 to 10 new Su-34 and Su-35. Two more Yak-130 combat trainers can also be delivered, which will amount to four aircraft per year. I think that Su-57s will be delivered this year in two batches at most, which means that the delivery will amount to 2-4 aircraft,” – he emphasised.
Thus, in 2024, the Russian Aerospace Forces will receive 22 to 28 new aircraft of all types. However, manipulations with tail numbers and new aircraft in general are not ruled out, so these figures are extremely relative, the expert said.
Kovalenko also noted that the production of tactical aircraft in Russia remains at a small-scale level, and these volumes do not fully compensate for the losses of aircraft in the combat zone in Ukraine. The Russian military-industrial complex has not been able to significantly increase the production of combat aircraft over the past few years.
It should be noted that on Tuesday, 23 July, a video of the downing of a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft by Ukrainian servicemen was posted online. Moreover, the downing took place from a man-portable air defence system
