A state in Canada has decided to secede from the country

The Alberta legislature has approved a petition to secede from Canada.
This was reported by CBC, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Now, the petition initiators from the Alberta Prosperity Project organization will be able to start collecting signatures in support of the referendum.
The organization also needs to appoint a financial director, after which they have four months to collect nearly 178,000 signatures in support of the referendum.
The TV channel notes that earlier the Alberta legislative assembly also adopted a petition for the province to remain part of Canada, drawn up by the organization Alberta Forever Canada.
If a referendum on the future of Alberta is recommended by the Canadian authorities, the vote should take place no later than October 18, 2027, the day of the next general election in the province.
The Alberta Prosperity Project said on social media that it considers the approval a “huge victory” for the province.
