€5m seizure scandal: Mit Prom releases a denial

The BEB reported today that €4.7 million in “black accounting” funds were seized from a company supplying foodstuffs to the Ministry of Defence, Mit Prom denied any involvement in the funds. The corresponding statement from this supplier of products of the Ministry of Defence received “Glavkom”, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
Recall, today detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) in Kyiv region found and seized more than 4.7 million euros of unaccounted cash as part of the investigation of criminal proceedings on tax evasion by a group of companies supplying products to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
According to the report, the funds were found in the boot of a car driven by an accountant of one of the companies. The woman could not explain the origin of the money. The attempt to export and conceal this “black” cash was exposed during investigative actions. Now the issue of seizure of the seized funds is being decided.
“Our enterprise and its employees have nothing to do with the funds in the amount of more than 4.7 million euros revealed by the TU BEB in Kyiv region. These funds in no way concern LLC “Mit Prom”, – stated in the message.
The company emphasised that a number of publications in the media about the involvement of LLC “Mit Prom” in the circumstances indicated in the press release of the BEB is false information.
“The person mentioned in the press release (accountant) is not an employee of Mit Prom LLC.” The criminal proceedings within the framework of which the BEB carries out its operational activities, which led to blocking the work of our company for almost a day, do not concern the economic activity of “Mit Prom” Ltd. The searches conducted by the BEB in our company were carried out on the basis of a court order, which concerned a completely different company,” stressed in “Mit Prom”.
It is noted that in this regard, the company perceives all PR-activities aimed at discrediting “Mit Prom” Ltd. only as a continuation of pressure for the reasons of the company’s refusal to go beyond the legal relations between business and law enforcement agencies.
Mit Prom LLC added that they are ready for constructive communication with the BEB and other law enforcement agencies, as well as ready to provide any information that will help the pre-trial investigation body to establish the truth faster.
