Health screening after 40: who, when, and how to get a free examination

The Ukrainian government has announced the launch of a new state program called “Health Screening 40,” which gives citizens aged 40 and older the opportunity to undergo a basic medical examination free of charge. The first invitations will begin arriving in the “Dія” app on January 31, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

When will invitations start arriving?

According to the prime minister, the first invitations will be sent to people born in the first days of the year. At the same time, about a million Ukrainians have already received an informational message about the new program in Diya.

The mechanism works automatically and is linked to the date of birth.

Who can participate in the program

The following people can participate in “Health Screening 40”:

Ukrainian citizens aged 40 and over;
people who have received an invitation through Diya or have registered to participate in an alternative way.

The program is voluntary and free of charge for patients.

What diseases will the screening help to detect

The program is aimed at the early detection of the most common chronic and stress-related conditions, including:

cardiovascular diseases;
diabetes mellitus;
mental health disorders in the early stages.

As Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized, the examination can be completed quickly and in one place, without separate visits to a family doctor and without searching for referrals, which is especially important in the context of a full-scale war.

What is known about the “Health Screening 40” program

More than 640 medical institutions across the country have already joined the program. These are hospitals that meet the requirements for:

specialist qualifications;
availability of necessary equipment;
level of medical services provided.

The list of institutions is constantly updated on the website of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

How the “Health Screening 40” program works

The participation algorithm is as follows:

30 days after your birthday in 2026, you will receive a notification in the “Dія” app.
You confirm your participation in the program.
Within a few days, 2,000 hryvnia will be automatically credited to your “Diiya Card.”
The funds can only be used to pay for services within the “Health Screening 40” program.

If you do not have the Diya app

For those who do not use Diya, there is an alternative option:

30 days after your birthday, you can open a special bank card;
contact the Administrative Services Center, where they will help you register for the program and specify the account to which the funds should be credited.
