No negotiations today: dates announced for next meeting between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi
1 February 13:08
The next talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia in Abu Dhabi will take place on February 4 and 5, rather than today as planned.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a Telegram message from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Our negotiating team has just reported. The dates for the next trilateral meetings have been set: February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi,” Zelensky said.
He noted that Ukraine is ready for substantive talks and is interested in a result that brings a real and dignified end to the war.
Negotiations in Abu Dhabi
Last week, on January 23 and 24, trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia took place in the UAE. The United States assessed the meeting positively, and Kyiv called it meaningful.
The most progress was made in the military bloc. They discussed the possible withdrawal of forces, mechanisms for monitoring the ceasefire, and the creation of a coordination center.
The parties agreed to prepare their own proposals on the ceasefire regime before the next meeting. At the same time, territorial issues remained unresolved.
According to media reports, Russia insists on the distribution of electricity from the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
It was also announced that the second round of negotiations is scheduled for February 1. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special representatives will not be present, which means that Ukraine and Russia will hold a bilateral meeting.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that it could be postponed due to the situation around Iran, as the US may strike the Ayatollah regime, which in turn will affect the date.
