The Ukrainian delegation is already on its way to Abu Dhabi to participate in trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the United States, and the Russian Federation. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

What is known about the talks in Abu Dhabi

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian side is preparing for meetings with both the American and Russian delegations. The president stressed that following the talks, a decision will be made on further diplomatic steps.

“Our team is currently heading to the Emirates for meetings with both the American and Russian sides. We are waiting to see how it goes and will decide on the next steps,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Conversation with the Prime Minister of Norway

The President also said that he had spoken with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre the day before. During the conversation, Zelenskyy informed the Norwegian Prime Minister about his meeting with US President Donald Trump, as well as about current diplomatic plans and work on international documents.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the results of the World Economic Forum and the coordination of efforts by European partners.

“We definitely need to become stronger and work more together—all of us in Europe. We discussed the situation in Ukraine and our needs to protect people,” the Ukrainian president said.

First trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the US, and Russia

Recall that on January 22, US Special Representative Steve Witkoff said that after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a negotiation format on Ukraine is planned in Abu Dhabi.

Later, Volodymyr Zelensky clarified that the negotiations would be trilateral, with the participation of the Ukrainian, American, and Russian sides.

Who was included in the Ukrainian delegation

According to the Ukrainian president, the Ukrainian delegation included:

  • Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov;
  • First Deputy Head of the Office of the President Serhiy Kyslytsya;
  • Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov.

The composition of the American and Russian delegations has not yet been officially disclosed.

Trump: Zelensky is ready to conclude an agreement

Speaking in Davos yesterday, Trump expressed confidence that the Ukrainian president is ready to conclude an agreement.

“I think I can say that we are pretty close to it,” he said.

The US president reiterated that the war in Ukraine, which has been going on for almost four years, must be stopped.

Zelensky’s meeting with Trump took place a few hours before US Special Representative Stephen Whitcoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
