Ukrainians will finally be able to forget about intrusive spam calls and fraudulent calls. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved updated Rules for the Provision of Electronic Communications Services, which should change the rules of the game in the mobile market. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov on his Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“The Ministry of Digital Transformation has provided operators with tools to combat spam calls and intrusive advertising. Subsequently, operators will block spam, advertising, and potentially fraudulent calls. These changes will be introduced gradually to give operators time for technical improvements,” Fedorov wrote.
According to him, businesses will have to register the phone numbers from which calls to users are made. If the numbers are not registered, calls may be blocked automatically.
“Soon, the operator will be able to block the number at the user’s request in case of a spam call,” the minister added.
What else will change for subscribers
In addition to the fight against spam, the new rules provide for a number of important updates:
- Full control in the user’s account.
Subscribers will now be able to view their expenses and turn off paid content services without contacting the operator.
- Internet speed is under control.
All agreements with operators must now contain specific Internet speeds. If an operator promises 100 Mbps, but the user receives only 40 Mbps, this is a breach of contract. In this case, you can complain to the National Commission or go to court.
- Support in frontline areas.
In combat zones, users will not lose connection due to non-payment. SIM cards will not be blocked, and a free communication package will be provided when you first log in to the network.
The new rules are to come into effect gradually, so that operators have time to adapt their systems technically. But Ukrainians will be able to feel the first positive changes in the near future.
