The US announces a new package of sanctions against Russian and other companies

The US Treasury Department has announced the imposition of almost 300 new sanctions on companies that helped Russia avoid previous sanctions. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
As explained by the US Treasury, these are companies that helped Russia obtain weapons or defence goods.
“Today’s actions will further impede Russia’s war effort by going after its military-industrial base and the evasion networks that help supply it. While we are throwing sand into the gears of the Russian war machine, the recently adopted supplemental document… provides much-needed military, economic and humanitarian support to bolster Ukraine’s courageous resistance. Together, our support for Ukraine and our relentless targeting of Russia’s military capabilities give Ukraine an important advantage on the battlefield.”

In addition to the nearly 200 targets sanctioned by the Treasury Department, the State Department is imposing sanctions on more than 80 entities and individuals engaged in sanctions evasion and circumvention or associated with Russia’s chemical and biological weapons programmes and defence industrial base. The State Department is also targeting Russia’s profits from its future energy, metals and mining production and is imposing sanctions on additional individuals in connection with Navalny’s death.
Even chemical weapons manufacturers are among the sanctioned companies. In particular, sanctions were imposed on three Russian organisations and two individuals involved in the purchase of goods for the production of chemical and biological weapons.
The day before, the United States eased sanctions against key Russian banks to allow Russia to sell energy resources. And the US Secretary of Defence called for no attacks on Russian refineries.
