Washington has repeatedly called on Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate and Security Service to stop attacks on Russian oil refineries. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing three sources, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reported

According to the newspaper, the US is concerned that these attacks could lead to a rise in world oil prices. After all, despite the sanctions, Russia remains one of the world’s largest oil exporters. And oil prices have already risen by 15% this year to $85 per barrel. More importantly, petrol prices in the US rose by 15% during the election campaign. US citizens are very sensitive to this indicator, so it directly affects the rating of the current president.

The US is also afraid of Russian retaliatory strikes against energy infrastructure that is important to the West. In particular, they are worried about the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) pipeline, which supplies oil from Kazakhstan. Part of it is laid through the territory of Russia, and in 2022, Russia has already briefly stopped its operation.

So far, Russia has responded with strikes against Ukraine. In particular, last night was the largest attack on the energy sector

According to the GUR, during the full-scale war, there have been 12 drone attacks on large Russian refineries (not including small terminals), of which 9 attacks have occurred this year.
