Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Valeriy Zaluzhny intends to leave his post in early January 2026. This was reported by the NV news portal, citing sources in political and diplomatic circles, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Probably, Zaluzhny wants to return to Kyiv, he may announce this on January 4-5 next year, if nothing affects his decision,” the publication notes.

According to a source close to the office of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy announced his desire to resign a few weeks ago. It happened during his visit to Kyiv. The article clarifies that the ambassador and the head of state discussed the possibility of appointing Zaluzhnyi to various positions, including the prime minister of Ukraine and the head of the presidential office. But at the time, the head of Kyiv’s diplomatic mission in London showed no interest.

Several other sources claim that Zaluzhnyi was thinking about becoming Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States or returning to the post of commander-in-chief of the country’s army, which he left in February 2024. But no decisions have been made so far.
