Israeli and American politicians are actively collecting signatures to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026.
This was stated on the Fox News channel by the Chairman of the US Congress Mike Johnson, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“In fact, Speaker of the Knesset [Amir] Ohana and I have joined forces to collect as many signatures as possible from other speakers and heads of parliaments of the free world to nominate President Trump,” Johnson said.
He added that the American president deserved the Nobel Prize like no other.
on October 10, the Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado for her “tireless work to defend the democratic rights of the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”
Trump was one of the contenders for the award, but bookmakers estimated his chances at 3%. Since returning to the White House, the politician has repeatedly spoken about his desire to win the award, and therefore has made efforts to become a peacemaker.
At the same time, according to the New York Post, the American leader did not intend to receive the award this year, hoping more for the next year.
