Court imposes preventive measures on defendants in case of explosions at enterprise near Zhytomyr

The Korolevsky District Court of Zhytomyr has imposed pre-trial restraints on five suspects in the case of explosions at an enterprise in the village of Berezina, Zhytomyr district. These are two managers and three employees of the enterprise, the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported , "Komersant Ukrainian".
The court ordered four of the suspects to be held in custody for two months without bail. Another defendant in the case will now be under round-the-clock house arrest – prosecutors have already appealed this decision, insisting on a preventive measure in the form of detention.
All five are charged with violation of the rules for handling explosives, which caused a large-scale emergency (Article 28(2), Article 263(1), Article 263(2), Article 263(1), Article 267(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). These articles provide for up to 12 years in prison.
As a reminder, on July 2, explosions occurred near the village of Berezina, killing two people and injuring 83 others, including a Japanese citizen. Sixteen people remain in hospitals.
In the Hlybochytsia community, the explosions destroyed a paramedic and obstetric station, a library and a club, and damaged kindergartens, gymnasiums and the Kmytiv Museum of Fine Arts named after Yosyp Bukhanchuk.
on July 7, the National Police notified five people of suspicion in the case.
