The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv dismissed the lawsuit filed by Svetlana Chernyshova, the wife of former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, regarding the division of marital property. The court announced its decision , according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

What is the essence of the lawsuit?

According to the case file, the plaintiff asked the court to divide the couple’s joint property, proposing an option that, in her words, was “equal and fair.”

Svetlana Chernyshova wanted to keep one of the apartments in Kyiv, while Alexei Chernyshov was offered to keep the apartment in Nikopol and a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 car.

Money, accounts, and securities

In addition to real estate, the lawsuit sought to recognize the plaintiff’s ownership of funds in 21 bank accounts, as well as 4,812 securities with a total nominal value of UAH 4.81 million.

The petition also contained claims regarding funds seized by NABU detectives during searches, money deposited as collateral into the account of the High Anti-Corruption Court, and UAH 10 million held in a deposit account of the High Anti-Corruption Court.

Why the court did not open proceedings

The decision to leave the lawsuit pending means that the court found procedural deficiencies in the application. The plaintiff was given time to remedy them, after which the court will decide whether to open proceedings in the case.

Svitlana Chernyshova filed a lawsuit for the division of property in October last year. According to Oleksiy Chernyshov’s declaration for 2024, the couple owns a significant amount of real estate: apartments in Kyiv and Nikopol, a residential building in the Kyiv region, and a 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser.

Oleksiy Chernyshov is involved in an investigation into a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy and construction sectors. According to the investigation, he was among the visitors to the so-called “laundromat” — a place where, according to law enforcement, funds related to schemes at Energoatom were legalized.

Chernyshov himself denies any involvement in corrupt activities. Bail in the amount of UAH 51 million was posted for him.

In June, NABU and SAP reported the exposure of a corruption scheme involving top officials, which, according to investigators, could have caused the state more than UAH 1 billion in losses.
