Court bans Emma Watson from driving for six months for speeding

A British court has banned actress Emma Watson, known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, from driving for six months for speeding, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the BBC, the actress drove down a street in Oxford on July 31, 2024, at a speed of 61 km/h, while the speed limit in this area is no more than 48 km/h. Emma Watson was absent from the court hearing, which lasted only five minutes. The court also ordered her to pay a fine of £1,044.

the 35-year-old actress has been studying at the University of Oxford since 2023, where she is pursuing a master’s degree in creative writing.

Watson became widely known after the premiere of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001. In total, she has appeared in eight installments of the franchise, the last of which was released in 2011. After that, she appeared in such films as Beauty and the Beast, Elite Society, and The Perks of Being Humble. Her most recent film role was in the 2019 film Little Women, directed by Greta Gerwig.

In 2023, she also launched an eco-friendly gin brand with her brother.
