The Cabinet of Ministers may soon reduce the number of officials in its staff amid the merger of ministries. This was stated by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko during a conversation with media representatives, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing RBC-Ukraine.

Svyrydenko was asked to comment on the possibility of reducing the Cabinet of Ministers’ staff (reducing the number of employees working in the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers).

“Where we have a merger of ministries, I think that of course this (reduction of the number of employees) is obvious. The main thing is that the government does not lose its functionality,” the Prime Minister said.

She clarified that it is now important to retain the number of people that will ensure the fulfillment of a particular function. At the same time, the merger of ministries will reduce the number of officials in some areas.

“But where the merger of ministries is a given, we expect that there may be some reduction after the audit,” Svyrydenko added.

The final decision will be made after the audit.
